2016 Sorento Awards

Design, look, feel, technology, and safety features are all important aspects to consider when purchasing a vehicle.  But what about accolades and awards?  I don’t know about you, but when reviews, customer ratings, and vehicle comparisons are available with a couple of quick clicks, it seems that accolades and awards are even more helpful than a test drive and vehicle walk-around in finalizing the vehicle transaction, because well, it validates the vehicle purchase and gives you peace of mind when driving your new car off the lot.

The Kia Sorento has come a long way since it’s inception in 2002.  The vehicle as launched was basic and a good starter for Kia’s jump into the SUV market.  In 2009, the Sorento was redesigned and many improvements and design features were added.  Then came the 2016 Sorento model, which was unveiled in 2015, and this is Kia’s best redesign yet.  Not only did Kia deliver on offering a sporty design, comfort, luxury, tailored the vehicle with the latest and greatest technology, they also closely watched their safety features with the goal of earning top awards from their competitors.  And it paid off!

The 2016 Sorento has earned the following awards:

  • 2015 highest possible rating in J.D. Power’s Initial Quality Study in the mid-size SUV category
  • Consumer Reports Highest Overall score in the mid-sized SUV category
  • 2016 IIHS Top Safety Pick Rating
  • 5-Star rating on the NHTSA Crash Safety Rating
  • 4 -Star rating from Digital Trends

We are days away from receiving our first shipment of the 2017 Sorento.  We haven’t seen the final design in person yet, we have heard there may be a possible change in the front styling, and a few additional technology perks.  Seeing how the 2016 set the standards high and beat out the competition in reliability, satisfaction, handling, and more, we can’t wait to get our hands on the 2017 Sorento.
